This special edition of the British magazine ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN gives a detailed account of the Phoenix Government center design competition of 1987.  The contest theme for that year focused on the concept of “The Architecture of Democracy” highlighting designs that enforced this notion.  The competition was conceived to provide the best designs for a new municipal building for the city of Phoenix, Arizona.
