RELAX magazine - issue 1 (May 1996)

The very first issue of Relax!

Published from May 1996 until September 2006, Relax was one of the defining voices in Japan’s urban lifestyle and street culture scene.

It blended fashion, art, music, design, lifestyle and youth culture in a lively editorial style that reflected contemporary Japanese creativity.

Figures of the fashion world such as Nigo A Bathing Ape’s or from music like James Lavelle of Mo’wax were regular contributors.

The magazine often included special items such as flexi disc vinyl records and sticker sheets, making some issues highly collectible. 

The bookstore just received several issues of the magazine such as the one presented here which is the very first issue published in May 1996.
