This is the fifth volume of the Hors-Série publication by Yan Morvan Archive. 

A stunning plunge into Belfast and other towns of the 81 Northern Ireland during Bobby Sand’s and his comrades’ hunger-strike.It focuses on the Northern Ireland conflict between 1980 and 1981.

Sands, a member of the Irish Republican Army and briefly of the UK Parliament, who died for his convictions participating in a hunger-strike once incarcerated for possession of firearms.

His death sparked public outrage surrounding Ireland with cities such as Belfast turning into fire with mass-protests and violent police repression. These images speak for themselves, showing communities gathering and rejecting British imperialism and Thatcherism. 

This fully independent printed series is dedicated to the work of the renowned photojournalist Yan Morvan. For over 50 years, his unmatched lens was able to capture defining events at a pace and proximity that few journalists have ever reached.
